Apex Defensive Solutions was founded on my belief in the teaching of firearms safety.

The Name APEX DEFENSIVE SOLUTIONS is a nod to the tiger and other animals that I respect and admire. The tiger is an Apex Predator, which is an animal that has no natural enemies in its own eco-system. Essentially “The Top of the Food Chain.” Man has adapted by using weapons and other tools to take its place as an apex predator. But predation on another is not what I want to teach. It is my goal to equip individuals to be able to protect and defend themselves or others from those that would do them harm.

I have been actively engaged in shooting and firearms safety since 1969, at the age of 10 participating in Army dependent youth activities where I was first introduced to shooting. In college I participated in my Army ROTC pistol team, competing in both NRA style shoots and combat pistol shooting.

From there I spent many years informally teaching people gun safety and basic shooting skills. I decided to make it formal and became an NRA certified instructor and when Illinois became a concealed carry state I took the next logical progression and became a certified Illinois CCW instructor.

I am based out of Hoffman Estates in Northwest Cook County and do most of my instruction in my home, but I will also do private instruction off site or in your home. Large groups can be done at a number of ranges in the area, but I try to keep my overhead low and pass the savings on to you.

Being a child of a military man I have a deep love and respect for the men and women that serve our country so I offer military discounts. I also offer group discounts for parties of 4 or more.

I want to make it very clear that although I support concealed carry, I believe that the rule of law is what holds our society together and that the taking of the law into our own hands is as dangerous and wrong as victimizing others. I do not in any way shape or form encourage vigilantism.
